Ragini Maharaj was born on 23rd September 1996 in Delhi in the illustrious family of the Kalka-Bindadin Gharana. She has received her training from a very young age from her grandfather the Kathak maestro Pt. Birju Maharaj. She has also learned Kathak from her aunt Vidushi Mamta Maharaj, her uncle Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj and her father Pt. Deepak Maharaj.

She began performing from a very young age of three. She has performed in various dance dramas choreographed by Pt. Birju Maharaj ji, some of them are Kho-Kho, Editing, Meera Hari Rang Rachi, Krishnayan, Chhand Leela etc. She has also performed solos at prestigious dance and music festivals namely: Saptak Festival (Ahmedabad), Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samahro (Varanasi), Sawai Gandharv, Akhand Ghunghroo Naad and Kalashree Sangeet Samahro (Pune), Vasantotsava and Sadhna Festival (Delhi), Nrityangan Kathak Kendra (Kolkata and Berhampore), Smaran (Kolkata), Acharya Chaubey Maharaj Festival (Mumbai), Andaaz-e-Bayaan and Naman (Lucknow), Pandit Nandkishore Sharma Smriti Sangeet Samahro and Ishawaryam Navratri Mahotsava (Bhopal), Sangeet Triveni and Nritya Utsav (Delhi), Wadia Institute (Dehradun), Delhi-Gwalior Festival and Nritya Samaagam (Gwalior) , Tarana Art & Music Festival and Baiju Bawra Sangeet Samharo (Delhi), Kathak Darshan (Vadodra) and many more. She has also performed at San Francisco and Minnesota for ‘Parampara, the tradition’ under the guidance of her Guru Pandit Birju Maharaj.

She is been awarded with ‘Tarana Yuva Pratibha Award’ in 2015, ‘Nritya Shringaar Gandharv Award’ in 2016, ‘Guru Ravi Jain Samman’ and ‘Jyas Foundation Award’ in 2017, ‘Nritya Samraagi Samman’ and ‘Madhav Piya Samman’ in 2019.
